New England Equal Best Winning Streak Since Tom Brady Years with Win Over New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five touchdowns during the current campaign
New England matched their best victory streak since the Brady period as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three scores as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a score, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph increases the Patriots lead at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after slipping to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Fields rushing for a short rushing score to cap the New York's opening drive
But the Patriots answered in the second quarter as the rookie scored two short rushing scores before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third period to push the score to 21-7
"It was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Justin Fields found John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales converted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the home side sealed the win
