Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in P17 as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a light touch of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
