The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Debuts, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Beloved Titles
In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive close to the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
The company has three new games already confirmed for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
